Probolinggo — Universitas Nurul Jadid (UNUJA) further strengthened its international academic network by welcoming a delegation from Taiwan Steel University of Science and Technology (TSUST). The visit was held in the form of a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) entitled "Strengthening Human Resources and Academic Collaboration in Engineering & Technology” on Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at the Rectorate Meeting Room, Universitas Nurul Jadid. The event was attended by UNUJA leaders and academics as well as the TSUST delegation, including the Director of the TSUST International Relations Office, Mr. Pei-chih Lin, and TSUST international staff member, Titi.

The FGD aimed to explore broader collaboration opportunities, particularly in providing UNUJA students with opportunities to continue their studies in Taiwan through various scholarship schemes. These scholarships are offered by the Government of Taiwan as well as several companies under the Taiwan Steel Group. The meeting also discussed plans to develop a Double Degree program to be implemented jointly with Indonesian universities, including UNUJA, to enhance academic quality and graduate competitiveness.

The Vice Rector I of UNUJA, Mr. M. Noer Fadli Hidayat, M.Kom., expressed his appreciation for TSUST’s visit and hoped that the collaboration would continue in the long term and bring mutual benefits. Meanwhile, the Director of the TSUST International Relations Office, Mr. Pei-chih Lin, emphasized that this visit was a follow-up to the cooperation agreement signed in 2024. He expressed his optimism that academic collaboration between the two institutions would run well and continue to grow in the future.

During the discussion session, representatives from UNUJA and TSUST addressed several important aspects of the collaboration plan, including the Double Degree program, which is still awaiting regulations from the INTENSE Base and the Government of Taiwan. UNUJA also proposed additional initiatives such as Team Teaching and Collaborative Research, which will be further communicated with the relevant study programs at TSUST. In the near future, UNUJA plans to initiate an international seminar in the fields of engineering and technology as an initial step to strengthen academic cooperation.

The international seminar is expected to serve as a forum for discussion between UNUJA Faculty of Engineering lecturers and TSUST academics, as well as a promotional platform for the Double Degree program, scholarships, and internship opportunities in Taiwan. Through this initiative, UNUJA students will gain clearer and more targeted information regarding international study and career opportunities, particularly in Taiwan.
